Meet the Leader

I am Jason Draper, the chairman of the Independent Party. I was born in Edmonton and raised in Calgary and Victoria BC. I have been married for nearly 18 years, and we have seven wonderful children. I mention that because that is one of the primary reasons I am dedicated to running for parliament -- for the future of my children, and yours. I currently reside in Courtenay BC, working overtime running two businesses as an entrepreneur to try to support the family in the face of the ever increasing tax grabs and compound interest payments hitting me from both directions. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

I am a proponent of life, liberty and property, a triad stolen from the writings of Frédéric Bastiat. As Bastiat said: "Life, faculties, production — in other words, individuality, liberty, property — this is man. And in spite of the cunning of artful political leaders, these three gifts from God precede all human legislation, and are superior to it. Life, liberty, and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it was the fact that life, liberty, and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place. "

I agree firmly with Abraham Lincoln: "I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts." -- Abraham Lincoln

In this case, the great but not always obvious truth is that men make governments, and not the other way around. Governments are supposed to protect equal rights, not run around like the unpopular kid in the school playground who is popular for a day only because he holds a brown paper bag with candy in it. But such is the role all factory politicians take on today, passing back a few scraps to the masses after they've been picked clean by the government and their banker buddies.

Quit voting in fear. Quit voting "strategically", there is no such thing. Quit wasting your vote on men and women who don't care about you and your family as exemplified by their actions -- no matter what comes out of their mouths.
