The Independent Party is for freedom. We are for liberty. We desire peace, but to live in peace as slaves or indentured servants is not acceptable to us. We will gather freedom loving Canadians under one tent, with the purpose of providing a free society in which to enjoy our God given unalienable rights of life, liberty, and property.
We love our country. We think it is the finest in the world. We wish a political, economic, and governmental system to match our coast to coast beauty. If there is any virtuous method of governing anywhere, we reserve the right to adopt it as our own.
We are Canadian, and if we could, we would set up a standard for the nations -- we would be the envy of the world. We would invite all like minded people to join us in our quest to establish a Republic of freedom. The ruling elite will have to relenquish control. They have held the reins for a long time. Now it is our turn.
We believe in God. We trust he will stand by us as we accomplish the impossible. We call on Him to assist us in our cause -- to enshrine the rights of mankind in a legitimate Constitution for the people. For those who do not believe in God, or who do not share our exact interpretation of God, we invite you to join us anyway to enable the fundamental rights of all men, including freedom of worship of who, where, and what you may -- or not at all.
We are patriots. We believe that while true patriotism opens doors, the abuse of patriotism closes them, and this often happens when chivalry is confused with patriotism. Patriotism is the devotion to the patria -- the fatherland, one's own people, the land of one's birth. By that definition, the greater the patriot, the greater the circle of that patriot's familial affection. We desire all men to be magnanimous patriots. We consider dissent to be the highest form of patriotism.
We believe in the individual responsibility of the person, the family, and the community.
We believe government should be a negative force for good. This means we believe government is not meant to impose anything on the people, but that government is meant to restrain negative forces from interfering with the right to life, liberty, and property.
We believe in the right to bear arms for our protection. We believe the right to collective protection is born out of the individual right to self defense.
We value liberty more than safety, and believe there are risks of all kinds to man living on this planet, and that no man or group of men can or ought to be able to try to legislate and force man to do anything against his will.
